This month’s Coach’s Compass shares how a few faith-filled strategies can turn the holiday season into your most promising time to find love.

For many singles, the holidays can feel like everyone else has someone special while you face the same familiar questions: “Are you dating anyone?”, “Why are you still single?”, or “You should just get out there more.”
But with a few small shifts, the holiday season can be the most fruitful time for finding love. After all, the holidays overlap perfectly with the top three ways Christian singles find their future spouse: meeting at church, online dating, and referrals from friends and family.
If you’re thinking, “If meeting someone at church were easy, I’d have done it by now,” then read on! My philosophy is that faith and practical wisdom work hand in hand. Joseph, Esther, Paul, and Ruth all combined prayer with strategy— and so can you.
Even if ‘that special someone’, doesn’t sign-up on your same service team, you are still guaranteed a chance to make a good impression with the best person in the church to help you find a future spouse – the volunteer coordinator. Volunteer coordinators know where almost every dedicated, servant-hearted, Christian single is at your church! Letting them see your servant heart in action and then here you ask the question ‘do you know of any Christian singles at church that I can begin friendships with’ and you will grow your network of both male and female Christian singles – and those connections can continue to build. In addition, events during the holidays, like ‘Thanksgiving’ Sunday brunches or Christmas concerts, occur at almost all local churches. This gives you a chance to meet Christian singles from other congregations without having to miss your regular Sunday fellowship.
Let’s be honest: great photos matter and the holidays are a perfect time to update your profile with natural, joyful, non-selfie pictures. Group shots with friends or family say, “People enjoy being around me,” which builds trust and attraction. This is especially important to women who are evaluating men online. In addition, since January and February are the biggest months for online dating sign-ups, your holiday photos set you up for success in the new year.
Looking your best over the holidays will do a lot more than produce great online photos— it can generate personal introductions to wonderful singles. Though it takes humility to ask friends and family for recommendations, with the proper strategy you can do this in a way that reveals your confident self who is anything but desperate.
Because you are not desperate! You are not ‘willing to date just anyone regardless of their values or how they treat you’. Yes, you deeply desire to be married, but you are waiting for the right person. You are waiting for someone who loves God with all their heart and will value you for the wonderful person you are. You’re a high-quality person looking for the same.
I’ve been taking steps to meet quality Christian singles but there are not that many places to be able to do so. If you know anyone with a sincere faith that you think highly of, I’d welcome learning more.
I’m glad you asked! It has been a challenge finding others who truly love the Lord. If you know of someone who is faithful at church, kind, and a lot of fun, I’m open to being introduced.
I agree—meeting great people takes effort! If you happen to meet any strong Christian singles, I’d love a referral.
With those replies ready, every family dinner is a chance to turn awkward questions into real opportunities. So this season, serve with joy, show up with confidence, and keep an open heart.
